We do. But let’s dig in!
You may have seen the Skinny ads “Mobile from $8!”
It sounds like a great deal, but is it? Let’s break down how Kiwi Mobile’s Choice Lite plan stacks up against Skinny’s $8 plan and help you figure out how they really stack up.
In a nutshell
Let’s do it side by side. While Skinny might have the edge on price, they don’t deliver much value for your bucks.

We go simple, flexible, and no-surprises
Skinny charges every 28 days, not monthly — so you end up paying 13 times a year rather than 12. Bit cheeky, eh? Plus since it’s prepaid, you’ll have to top up first before you’re good to go.
With Kiwi Mobile, you are on a grown-up post-paid plan with 12 bills a year. And like all Electric Kiwi products, you can choose to pay weekly, fortnight or monthly on the day or date that works for you.
Where is all the data?
Both Skinny as us offer entry-level plans, because we know that some people love a great bit of value. But lets be real, 250MBs of data is three eights of bugger all, and if you run out, you will need to buy more.
Kiwi Mobile gives you four times that fast data on the lowest tier, with the choice to either continue with endless data at reduced speeds, or level up for more max speed data.
Also, if you ever like to connect your laptop, friend, casual acquaintance or iPad to your phone, you are going to want a hotspot. With us, go for it, with Skinny. Nup, sorry.
What’s Endless Data all about?
In Kiwiland the big telcos have decided to invent two new terms. Endless data, and Unlimited data. But what do they mean?
With Endless Data you get max-speed data up to your plan limit, and then you slow down to a manageable (but yes slower) 1.2mb/s. With Unlimited data you get unlimited max-speed data.
Endless data is epic if you want great value, but actually want to be able to access the internet even if you are over your plan limit. It’s better, and we reckon our Choice Lite plan is one of the best value Endless plans ever
